Miso Filipovac
BIOGRAPHY
Mišo Filipovac (b. 1987, Bajina Bašta, Serbia) is a contemporary artist whose practice is grounded in a sustained investigation of drawing as a primary medium and its possibilities within contemporary visual language. He began his education at the Art School in Užice, in the department of conservation and restoration, and later graduated from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts in Kragujevac, Department of Mural Painting, where he completed both his undergraduate and master’s studies as the top student of his generation. He completed his doctoral artistic studies at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Since 2011, Filipovac has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally, presenting 28 solo exhibitions and approximately 200 group exhibitions. He has received several awards and recognitions in the field of contemporary art. His work is characterized by a continuous exploration of the figure and its relationship to pictorial space, with drawing occupying a central role as a means of articulating different states and narrative structures. In his recent works, he develops an approach based on fragmentation and reconfiguration of the image, introducing a more complex relationship between image, process, and time. Filipovac’s works are included in institutional collections, galleries, and private collections in Serbia and abroad. He is a member of ULUS. He teaches at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts in Kragujevac.
